Nervous System Reset: A Sound Bath for Restoration
Our nervous systems are constantly taking in the world around us—conversations, screens, deadlines, responsibilities, noise, emotions, and the never-ending list of things that need our attention. Even when we finally stop moving, our bodies don't always know that it's time to rest.
Nervous System Reset: A Sound Bath for Restoration is an invitation to step away from all of that for a while and give your mind and body something they rarely receive:
space to simply be.
This sound bath is centered around the idea of
restoration. Rather than asking yourself to relax, clear your mind, or somehow “do” rest correctly, you'll be given an environment where you can begin to soften naturally. The resonant sounds and vibrations of crystal singing bowls create a gentle place for your attention to land, allowing some of the noise of the outside world—and the noise within—to become a little quieter.
Restoration doesn't have to mean falling asleep or reaching some perfectly peaceful state. Sometimes it simply means having
less to respond to. Less stimulation. Less effort. Less expectation. A little more space between thoughts. A little more awareness of your body. A chance for your nervous system to experience what it feels like when nothing is being asked of you.
Whether you've attended one of our Otero College sound baths before or this will be your very first,
no experience is necessary. There is nothing you need to know, achieve, or get right. Come exactly as you are and allow yourself to receive the experience in whatever way your body needs that day.
Please
dress comfortably and bring water. Blankets will be provided, and you're also welcome to bring your own
pillow, blanket, or anything else that will help you feel comfortable while resting.
