a trauma informed and somatic healing series
The Trauma-Informed Body Series: Coming Home to You
A Five-Week Series for Trauma Healing & Nervous System Restoration
October 20 - November 17. 6 - 8 PM
Healing Includes the Body
When people think about healing, they often think first about the mind or their spirituality. We talk through our experiences, examine our thoughts, challenge old beliefs, meditate, pray, journal, or turn toward spiritual practices.
All of that can be meaningful. But the body is often left out of the conversation.
Trauma can affect more than what we think or remember. It can shape the nervous system, the breath, the muscles, our energy, and our ability to feel safe and present in our own bodies. Even when the mind understands that an experience is over, the body may continue to brace, shut down, remain on alert, or prepare for something to go wrong.
This does not mean your body is broken. It means your body learned how to protect you.
The Trauma-Informed Body Series is an opportunity to begin understanding those protective patterns with compassion. Rather than fighting your body or forcing it to change, you will learn how to listen to it, work with it, and begin rebuilding a relationship rooted in awareness, choice, connection, and trust.
About the Series
Across five two-hour classes, we will explore how trauma can affect the body, nervous system, and personal energy. Each class combines education with guided, experiential practices so that you are not only learning about these concepts but also discovering how they may show up within you.
We will move between conversation, workbook reflection, breathwork, meditation, somatic practices, gentle movement, energy work, sound, and ritual.
You will never be asked to share the details of your trauma or relive painful experiences. Every practice is an invitation. You may participate, observe, modify, pause, rest, or pass. You will be encouraged to listen to your body and choose what feels supportive throughout the series.
The Five-Week Journey
Week 1: What Is Trauma, Energy & How It Lives in the Body
We will begin by creating a trauma-informed group container rooted in choice, consent, privacy, pacing, and respect.
You will learn what trauma is, where it can come from, and how it can affect us emotionally, physically, spiritually, and energetically. We will explore how protective responses can remain active in the body after an experience has passed and begin noticing the body’s signals through gentle awareness and grounding practices.
Week 2: Meet Your Nervous System
Your nervous system is constantly gathering information and responding to what it believes is safe, stressful, or threatening.
In this class, you will learn about the nervous system’s role in trauma and stress responses, including activation, shutdown, and the body’s survival patterns. You will begin recognizing your own nervous system cues and practice simple grounding and regulation tools that can support greater stability and choice.
Week 3: Building a Relationship with Your Body
Many people learn to ignore, judge, fear, or disconnect from what they feel in their bodies. This class creates space to begin relating to your body differently.
Through body awareness, workbook reflection, and gentle somatic practices, you will explore physical sensations, tension patterns, boundaries, needs, and internal signals. The focus is not on analyzing or fixing what you notice. It is on becoming curious about your body’s communication and slowly rebuilding self-trust.
Week 4: Somatics: Breath, Meditation & Movement
This experiential class brings together trauma-informed breathwork, grounding meditation, and gentle somatic movement.
You will explore how breath, attention, and movement can support nervous system regulation, presence, and the release of held tension. The practices will be invitational and adaptable, giving you several options you can continue using outside of class.
Week 5: Energy, Sound & Ritual
Our final class will explore personal energy, energetic boundaries, sound, and ritual as supportive tools for healing and integration.
You will be guided through practices for noticing and clearing personal energy, reconnecting with your own boundaries, and using sound and ritual to support release and empowerment. We will close by bringing together what you have learned and creating a foundation for continuing this work beyond the series.
Your Body-Based Toolkit
By the end of the series, you will leave with a practical toolkit you can continue using on your own. Your toolkit may include:
- Grounding and orienting practices
- Nervous system regulation tools
- Body awareness and somatic practices
- Trauma-informed breathwork
- Meditation and gentle movement
- Energy awareness and boundary practices
- Sound and ritual
- Workbook reflections and integration tools
These practices are not meant to give you one more thing you have to do perfectly. They are options you can return to when you need support, connection, or a way to gently meet what is happening within you.
Guided by Melanie Chavez
This series is guided by Melanie Chavez, owner of Ren Yoga Flow & Healing. Melanie’s work brings together yoga, breath, meditation, Reiki, intuitive healing, nervous system education, sound, and ritual.
Her approach is grounded in the belief that healing should honor the whole person: mind, body, energy, and spirit. Each class is created to offer choice, encourage curiosity, and help participants develop practices that feel supportive and sustainable in their own lives.
An Important Note
This is a trauma-informed, body-based educational series. It is not therapy and is not intended to diagnose or treat trauma, PTSD, or any mental health condition. Melanie is not a licensed therapist.
This work is designed to complement, not replace, care from qualified mental health and medical professionals. If you are currently experiencing severe or destabilizing trauma symptoms, please consult with a licensed professional to determine whether group body-based work is appropriate for you at this time.
Coming Home to You
This series is not about fixing yourself or forcing your body to let go.
It is about understanding the body that has carried you through everything. It is about learning its language, listening to what it needs, and creating more opportunities for safety, connection, and trust.
It is a process of slowly and gently coming home to you.
Why This Series Is for YOU
If you are seeking a holistic approach to healing that can work alongside traditional talk therapy, this series brings the body, nervous system, and personal energy into the process. Talk therapy can help us understand our experiences, name what we feel, and recognize the beliefs and patterns we carry. Body-based practices offer another layer of support by helping us notice how those experiences may still be affecting the breath, muscles, nervous system, energy, and ability to feel present.
This series offers a supportive space to explore how trauma and chronic stress can show up in the body without requiring you to share your personal story or relive painful experiences. Through nervous system education, grounding, breathwork, meditation, somatic practices, gentle movement, energy work, sound, and ritual, you will begin developing a more compassionate relationship with your body and its protective responses.
Each class is carefully structured to help you feel informed, supported, and empowered in your own choices. You will be invited to participate at your own pace, with the freedom to observe, modify, pause, rest, or pass at any time. Through education, workbook reflection, and guided practices, you will learn how to recognize your body’s signals, support your nervous system, strengthen your energetic boundaries, and reconnect with your own inner guidance.
By the end of the series, you will leave with a practical toolkit of practices you can continue using outside of class. These tools are meant to help you participate more actively in your own healing, care for your body and nervous system, and continue building greater awareness, connection, and trust within yourself.
What to Expect
Each two-hour class will move between education, personal reflection, and guided experiential practices. We will begin by creating a shared trauma-informed container rooted in choice, consent, privacy, pacing, and respect.
Over the five weeks, you will learn about trauma, the body, the nervous system, somatics, breath, meditation, movement, energy, sound, and ritual. Some practices will be quiet and reflective, while others will invite gentle movement, sensory awareness, sound, or personal exploration through your workbook.
Nothing will be forced, and there is nothing you need to perform or prove. You will not be asked to disclose the details of your trauma. This series is about meeting your body as it is today, listening to what it communicates, and learning practices that can support you long after our five weeks together have ended.
